Baby Blessing of William Cash Filippone on June 1, 2012

(Grandma Joann took shorthand notes and tried to write it down as best she could remember)

Dear Heavenly Father, by the power and authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood which we hold we come before You to give this baby a name and a blessing. His name is William Cash Filippone.

... a special blessing. Cash, life is going to be built on choices. Choices you will be capable of making with the help of both your immediate family and your ward family. You will be given the guidance necessary to grow strong in the church that will help you to be ready to face all the challenges.

We bless you that your mind and body will grow strong.
Be worthy to hold the Priesthood. ...go on a mission.
After your mission you will finish college and you will get married in the temple to a beautiful wife and have a plentiful family to be able to have the happiness and prosperity Heavenly Father can rain on you.
We bless you with a healthy body that will function as it should.
... soften the pains that come with growing with age.
... family will grow strong in the church.
... go forward and multiply gifts and enjoy blessings.
... bless the kids that you will have.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

10 months

At ten months Cash is into EVERYTHING! He opens every cupboard and promptly empties it- all stacked cups are unstacked and all over the place, the same thing with every bowl, plate and all containers. While on the very tip of his toes he opens drawers and then tries to reach in and grab anything his fingers will take hold of. He climbs up onto the couch and then goes over to the side that does not have a wall behind it and proceeds to climb up onto the back of the couch. It nearly gives us all a heart attack, thinking he will fall over the back and onto the tile floor. Luckily there is always a good eye on him and someone will grab him quickly. He loves to empty baskets full of laundry. His favorite is to pull each and every item of clothing out of the laundry basket when they have ALL been folded already. He loves to empty all the toys out of the toy basket. He opens dresser drawers and pulls out every piece of clothing. He gets into my bathroom drawers and cupboards and pulls out all the shampoo, curling/flat irons, brushes, baby wash, hair gels/sprays, Q-tips, cotton balls, extra toothbrush heads and whatever else he can find under the sink and in the drawers. He is a tornado and can cause these messes in 3 seconds so we can hardly blink and before it happens. Will finally put cabinet latches on all the cabinets so we don't have to worry about those anymore. He still gets into all the things that can not be latched. I wonder when he will grow out of this stage.
All four teeth on top are through. Some are just barely broken through enough to feel but not enough to see yet. He was pretty miserable for ten days when they were coming thought- fever and diarrhea and that wasn't fun but now he is back to his HAPPY self again.
He really is the happiest little guy around! When he cries then I know there is really a problem. Even when he pinches a finger or bonks his head he just kinda whimpers and fusses- not really a cry too often. He is so smiley and I just love his little dimples and his cute little giggle.
He is doing much better on walking but still can't walk very far without help. He will hold onto something and then let go and pretty much walk/run/fall to whatever he is trying to get to- like if he is standing at the bathtub and lets go and walks across to the cabinets. He can only make it about 3-4 steps and if it is farther than that then he falls kinda on his face and knees and will crawl the rest of the way. He does best when he lets go and walks to something on his own. If we put him against something and try to get him to walk to us then he doesn't do as well and will fall after 1 or 2 steps, not always but most of the time. When he is standing at the couch he can run all the way around as he holds on the entire time for balance. He will probably be walking full on pretty soon but I can tell he is a bit on the cautious side and isn't rushing anything. Which I am fine with.
We talk about being done having kids. He is such a joy and so much fun, I just can't imagine not having another fun baby to watch do all these things again. And then I get Cash up in the morning and am reminded of the not so fun part of having a baby- the diapers. Cash has the most horrible poopy diaper every single morning. I don't like that part so much. We have had a hard time with finding a formula that doesn't bother him so a lot of his diapers a pretty yucky. We will see if he is able to handle cows milk when he turns one.
He sleeps great. Often he cries in the night, but is still asleep while doing it, and I wonder if he is having bad dreams. I feel so bad but when I go in to console him he doesn't want me to and just stops crying and dives out of my arms for his bed. I have stopped going in when he cries and he usually stops very quickly. He typically will take two good naps each day (2-3 hours each) and will sometimes take an evening nap if it is still a few hours until bed time.
He loves taking baths but because he is so busy I don't let him play for very long. He is constantly trying to swim around, stand up on the edge, and do things that make me so afraid because his balance is off. I just put a small amount of water in and try to make him sit on his bum but as soon as he starts to get either cold or wild then I quickly wash him and get him out.
I hope he is not a wild child. So excited to see how he is at age 2, 3 and 4!!! :) I wonder if I am in for something that I never experienced with any of the other kids!

Teeth and walking

When Cash was about 8 months I got really sick. I wasn't able to nurse him for about 5 days. When I got a  bit better I tried to nurse him about once per day. He wasn't too interested  but would still do it for a short time. This lasted about a week or two. By 8 and a half or 9 months he was completely and totally done nursing. Kinda makes me sad. I miss the snuggle time. Cade was disinterested at this age as well. Boys are busy and have things to get into and messes to make I suppose :)
Cash is now close to 10 months and is trying to cut through 3 teeth on top- the 2 top eye teeth and one top middle tooth. (He has the two bottom teeth already.) I'm not sure if the other middle tooth will be coming soon. I feel so bad for him. He has had a runny nose and a slight fever off and on. He doesn't want to eat any little snacks or food at all. He will drink bottles still which I am happy about. I remember when Carlee was getting her eye teeth- she got little round red 'fever spots' on the skin above her lips on the outside of where the teeth were coming in at. I hope these teeth come in quickly and he continues to handle it so well.
He is walking along all the furniture like a champ. He will practically run along the couch. He will let go for a second or two and has once or twice taken a quick step. I am sure he will be walking before we know it. Or maybe he will go straight to running! :)

I think at 9 month check up Cash was 75%, 21 lbs 6 oz. I need to find the paperwork and record it still.

8 months

Cash is 8 months now. That is my favorite age. I love all the things he is doing now. He crawls all over the place and pulls himself up to stand on everything. He just broke through a 2nd tooth on the bottom. Because of this he is nursing less and less, my choice, not his so much. He is always happy and super ticklish. Anytime I open the dishwasher he comes from out of nowhere to stand at it. He will pull dishes out if they aren't too big. I remember Cade doing the same thing. It would drive me nuts. I used to want a dishwasher that was like 2 feet off the ground so the baby wouldn't be able to get to it. It feels like deja vu sometimes. Cash is doing many of the same things Cade would do and Cash is just as happy and easy going as Cade was- perhaps more-so. I feel like Cash is starting to really put on some weight recently. He feels super solid and is pretty tough. He doesn't go for another weight/ length check for another month when he has his 9 month checkup. I am so curious as to where he stands on the charts- still 50% for weight??

7 months

7 months marks a special time for my baby boy...
very first tooth broke through
learned to clap
learned to pull self up to anything and stand

I knew that tooth had been working it's way to the surface for some time now... like 2 months! And it finally popped through. Cash didn't seem to be phased by it though.
One day I just saw him clapping his hands together and so I encouraged it and shouted "YAY!" and he would laugh and do it some more. I often find him just playing on the floor and then he will drop his toy and start clapping. It is dang cute. But when he claps and we play with him and encourage that then he gets so excited and smiles so big. We all love it.
A week or two ago Cash started to go to the first step of the stairs. It isn't very tall and when he would stand his legs up he would still be bent over - so the weight and the balance was distributed over the legs and the arms. Well just a few days ago he started going to taller things and reaching upward and standing at them- such as the legs of the kitchen chairs or the couch or the bathtub. Unfortunately, he often can't stand for too long and when he lets go he bonks himself on something. He is still learning to ease himself down. He will get the hang of it soon though. Smart little bugger!

6 months

Cash is now taking a bottle and he takes it like a champ! His reflux is so much better. I am wondering if my breast milk bothers him. I still nurse him once in the morning and once in the evening. He takes Enfamil for Reflux formula and eats baby food and rice cereal. He is now crawling on all fours a lot of the time. He still sleeps really well. He goes to bed at about 8 or 9 pm (depending on if we are home and how busy things are around here) and he wakes at 7am. We all have so much fun with him!!!!

First Crawl

About 5 and a half months
Cashypants took his first 'crawl steps' yesterday. He got up on his knees and put one hand out then moved a knee then the other hand then the other knee. He only did about 3 knee movements  before he fell back down on his belly but he is rearin' to go! He did it again today just once but his is really starting to pull himself around to whatever he wants to get to. Before he would roll and roll and roll clear across the room to get to where he wanted to go. Now he scoots on his belly and it is so dang cute. I can sit in front of him and put my hands out and he will pull his body across the floor to get to me. He's a mover and a shaker these days for sure!
